Donald Barthelme was a giant of the short story genre, as well as a novelist and prize-winning children's author.
He was a longtime contributor to "The New Yorker", winner of a National Book Award in the USA, a director of PEN and the Authors Guild and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. This story paints the scene when nonsense poet, Edward Lear, cheerfully invites his acquaintances to his bedside to witness his death.
